Amazing Universe

Over the past couple of months I have been composing the soundtrack to a brand new full dome planetarium show – “AMAZING UNIVERSE” – made by the team at the Otago Museum.

It has been a fascinating project to work on, and has resulted in a really amazing immersive journey through the solar system and beyond. Well worth a visit the next time you are in Dunedin.

In the meantime, you can listen to the soundtrack from this show now! And, get your very own copy for your listening pleasure.

New album and a short soundscape

In between furiously working away on finalising the score for the new “Amazing Universe” show at the Otago Museum Perpetual Guardian Planetarium (opens December 4th!), I have been preparing a new album for release (29/11/15) – that album is “it will remember itself” by Narrowing Weeks.

Narrowing Weeks is a collaborative project with Chris Lam Sam, Nick Granville, Rob Burns and Robbie Craigie. Here is the cover art by Dan Inglis:

And here is a bonus track (free download) we recorded as a warm up before Nick arrived at the session:

Finally, I also recently put together a short soundscape track for the ADAM audio soundtrack competition… you can hear it here! Inspired by the picture #moon:

Concerts!

On Tuesday 4th of August I gave a concert called ‘Imagined Landscapes’. It was a collection of music I have composed, most new, some revisits of older stuff. Lots of multimedia things, and some multi-sensory elements exploring smell and taste.

Sharron Bennett of Sharron Bennett Photography took a bunch of pictures of the concert… you can look at them here:

Nick Hollamby performs ‘ruru’ Poem by Scott Granville

Some video footage of this concert is coming!

This coming Tuesday (11th August) there is another concert. This time of sonic art celebrating Lilburn’s electroacoustic heritage. Poster is here;

Suburban Wires and Cosmic Outlaws

Another new music update!
This time more music composed with Chris Lam Sam for The Scorelocks Collective.

After composing the music for two films in the 48hour film fest (one in Auckland and Wellington) we also had the time to put together a couple of extra pieces, for no other reason other than enjoying the art and process of composition.

So, here are those two pieces.
First up, a piece inspired by a photo submission from master composer Stephen Gallagher. This piece is called “Suburban Wires”.

The second piece is inspired by the concept of the space western. This piece is called “Cosmic Outlaw”.

More new music coming soon!
